About Us

The Queens Engineering Sustainable Solutions and Technologies Competition is designed to foster a culture of innovation and empower the future generation of Queen’s students to become advocates for positive change. The competition challenges members to think creatively and produce innovative solutions to real-world problems. Through this initiative, delegates will have the unique opportunity to connect with industry experts and receive valuable mentorship to enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The aim is to inspire and equip Queen’s students with the ability to create sustainable solutions and have a positive impact on society and the environment.

Our Goal

In 2015, every member state of the United Nations unanimously embraced the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This collective initiative outlines a blueprint for shared well-being and environmental preservation, both in the present and for future generations. At its core are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which serve as an urgent appeal for joint action by countries across the development spectrum, transcending their differences to form a global partnership. These SDGs acknowledge the need to simultaneously combat poverty and address other forms of deprivation while also implementing strategies to enhance healthcare and education, reduce inequality, and promote economic growth. All of this must occur in parallel with efforts to combat climate change and safeguard our planet's oceans and forests.

Through QUESST we hope to create a platform where students can learn about sustainability, collaborate in teams, develop innovative designs, and connect with industry professionals. Through this experience, students will gain the network, experience, and inspiration to go out into the world and create positive sustainable change.

Our Events

QUESST Kick-off

Student teams, sponsors, and mentors will gather and begin collaborating. Teams will attend engaging workshops, hear from renowned speakers and initiate their ideation process with the guidance of their professional mentor. During the following week, teams will continue project ideation and preparation alongside their mentor.

Join us on Thursday November 2nd!

Competition Weekend

The competition will bring all teams, sponsors, speakers, and mentors back together for the captivating main event. Teams will work on their project deliverables, both technical and functional components. In addition, they will hear from speakers and enjoy meals as well as networking sessions with our partners. The event will conclude with team presentations and the selection of the top three finalists who will present during the concluding banquet on the evening of Saturday, November 11.
